In today’s world of growing ecommerce, there is a greater risk of online frauds while doing any transactions.
That’s where Jumio, an online and mobile credentials management company, has tried to mitigate the risk of online transactions. The company that started its business with a web based application in the year 2011 has created a digital credential verification platform for end users.
It has managed to achieve this through its Netverify solution that allows businesses to authenticate their customers’ identities in real-time. While another platform from its stable called BAM Checkout provides a frictionless checkout experience by enabling users to bypass nearly all manual key entry when completing a mobile purchase.
“The experts at the backend along with the help technological assistance carry out the fraud checks, and make sure that the provided ID is not only legitimate but also that such particular transaction can be completed with it. This platform can be accessed directly through open internet or through client’s website,” says Ankit Goyanka, Managing Director, Jumio India Pvt. Ltd.
Jumio platforms are available to users to upload their ID proofs. For example, it will allow businesses to authenticate their customers’ identities in real-time by validating their source credential of a passport, driver license or a nationalized ID card. BAM Checkout completes the scanning process in a matter of seconds, then auto-populates users’ existing checkout fields with all of the information needed like name, shipping address, and credit card number and expiration date.
Consumers simply hold their ID up to their smartphone or desktop camera while the platforms validates the ID, extracts the personal info it contains and fills it into the sign-up on the checkout form.
“The BAM Checkout reduces the processing time and data extraction time. Our aim was to have a platform where both the end users and merchants can converge and get their IDs verified and securely have the transactions done with quick turn-around-time,” says Goyanka.
The company has partnered with multiple international bodies to have their transactions secured and completed quickly. They are currently supporting around 200 plus countries and around 2000 plus types of nationalized documents (IDs, DLs and Passports) for processing.
“We also specialize in doing end-to-end document manipulation check and completing data entry along with Address Extraction and Face match as additional processing steps as and when required by our customers,” Goyanka informs.
Face match is a Netverify feature that scans the ID document, as well as a photo of the user’s face, and shows a probability score that the user is the person pictured on the ID document for approved scans. Along with end-to-end fraud check, the solution can also pull address from the document.
In addition, documents that were getting processed for countries like the United Kingdom, the United States of America and Mexico had some inbuilt logic while creation of document numbers. The system was enhanced to have the automation to check for those fields and the combinations to get a match.
“In case of any such logarithm not matching the system, an alarm is raised and the person processing the document gets a cue to check those fields additionally. This step has reduced frauds and errors by at least 15 percent since implementation,” says Goyanka.
